We follow winemakers‘ basic principle: wine is born in the vineyard. We nurture our 1,200 hectares of vineyards, caring for the unique terroir.
Even in the first years of the company's creation here, led by international experts and relevant institutes, we made a complete and detailed soil analysis. A terroir map was created, on the basis of which vineyards were selected and planted on the best plots for them.
We do everything to ensure that only the best grapes enter a bottle of Ukrainian wine.
We provide daily care and a comprehensive approach:
- deep loosening of the soil in the fall after harvesting, so that the vine has time to accumulate a sufficient amount of moisture, to get all the necessary elements;
- during the season, green works to remove leaves in the grapevine zone;
- breaking off excess shoots;
- yield control — up to 2 kg of grapes on the bush;
Manual harvesting, fast delivery to the winery by refrigerator (15-30 minutes, depending on the location of the plot).
We grow more than 20 varieties of grapes, applying an individual approach to each of the 4 million vines. We brought our vines from the best nurseries in France, Italy and Georgia.
We also grow the indigenous grape variety — Telti-Kuruk, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. It hasn‘t changed its organoleptic properties since pre-phylloxera times. Telti-Kuruk is an old Ottoman name which means „the tip of a fox's tail“ — the shape of the bunch actually resembles a fox's tail.
The first wine of the Controlled Designation of Origin in Ukraine (the analogue of Appellation d'Origine Controlee) was made from Telti-Kuruk.
The oldest and largest rootstock vineyards of Telti-Kuruk (more than 40 hectares) are located in the Odesa region and grow in our terroir. The oldest vines are more than 50 years old.
